As a parent of a premature baby myself on march 25th, 2010 I gave birth to my daughter Millie born at 30 weeks, that's 10 weeks earlier than a baby should be born weighing in at a tiny 3lbs & 12oz, it was a very big shock to us all and a very scary at the same time.
We spent over 14 weeks in SCBU & NICU with Millie thinking will she survive as round a week or so later, after she was born, we got some very bad news that Millie had a bleed on the brain this is called hydrocephalus and can be extremely fatal.
Millie underwent two major brain surgeries, one for an access device fitted and the other one for a shunt, if you would like to read my full post on this please take a look at this link-http://preciouslittleworlds.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/my-precious-millie-born-10-weeks-early.html
It's a very worrying time giving birth early all the clothes you may of got like did go's out of the window, finding clothes to fit your premature baby can be a struggle but thanks to Asda it just got a little easier. We did struggle few years back rushing into every baby store to find suitable clothes, they do have prem outfits in SCBU but it's nice to pop them in their own plus you will need some for your little one when they come out.
My daughter Millie.
We have a few facts for you to take a look at and very helpful information -
Over half of multiple and 8% of single births are premature in the UK every year
